Kisschasy - Hymns For The New Believers Tour

On a mild Friday the 13th in Brisbane, the atmosphere at Fortitude Music Hall was anything but eerie, it was electric. Fans poured into the iconic venue for a night of nostalgia, singalongs, and catchy beats as beloved Aussie rockers Kisschasy returned to the stage for their Hymns For The New Believers tour. The tour marks a major milestone for the band, celebrating their first-ever vinyl pressing and marking 18 years since the release of their critically acclaimed second album, Hymns For The Non Believers. With a packed crowd and undeniable energy, Brisbane witnessed a triumphant return from one of Australia’s most cherished rock acts.

First up was Melbourne’s own Suzi and what an opener she was. Armed with sharp lyrics, smooth guitar work, and warm inviting energy, she drew the crowd in early. There was a quiet power to her performance, and her blend of indie and alt-rock set a mellow but magnetic tone that had everyone singing along to tracks such as 'Centrelink Summer' and 'I Dont Understand How Planes Work'

Next up were Perth legends Sly Withers, and the energy in the room immediately surged. They delivered their signature blend of punk-fuelled intensity and emotionally charged melodies. Songs like 'Cracks', 'Closer', and their newest single 'Restless' had the crowd singing along like it was group therapy. Their onstage chemistry was electric, impassioned, and completely in sync. Easily one of the most exciting Aussie live acts right now.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for. Kisschasy took the stage to a massive roar, and from the first note of Hymns for the Nonbeliever, it was clear this was going to be special. The band powered through the entire album front to back including fan favourites 'Opinions Won’t Keep You Warm at Night', 'Spray-On Pants' and 'Ugly Birds in a Beautiful Cage' each one met with full-throttle crowd participation.

After a brief stop followed by cheers, applause and an impassioned plea for an encore, the band returned to the stage for an extra 5 songs including their first new track since 2009 'Lie To Me' and finishing off their set with 'Do-Do's & Whoa-Ohs' to the delight of the packed crowd. Lead singer Darren Cordeux didn’t miss a beat. His vocals were spot on, and the band’s energy felt just like the early 2000s only tighter, louder, and even more heartfelt.
